Velika Plaza Project exhibited at MIPIM Horizons, Cannes/France



Delegation of the Ministry for Economic Development of Montenegro headed by Minister Branimir Gvozdenovic participated from the 2nd to 4th of December in one of the largest international real estate exhibition MIPIM Horizons, hold in Cannes.


MIPIM Horizons is a unique event for the first time organized this year in Cannes 2-4. December, which will enable professionals in the field of real estate and investors to be positioned in the fastest growing real estate markets in the area of the Middle East, Turkey, Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia and Latin America.

In the stand of the Ministry for Economic Development the best final five works of the competition of “Velika Plaza a sustainable waterfront” were presented. At the competition, solutions are chosen so in accord with the vision of the Government of Montenegro, which includes innovations in the field of civil engineering, tourism and energy efficiency, and the mark of environmental protection and sustainable development. Planners five companies are: Van Den Oever Zaaijer (Netherlands), SSSCCM + PM (Italy), Archipelagos Group (USA), Crawford Architects (USA) and PRP Architects (United Kingdom).

Minister Branimir Gvozdenovic during the fair had a series of bilateral meetings with officials and potential investors, and interviews with representatives of domestic and foreign media in order to provide a better publicity of Montenegro investments projects that will be realized.

SSSCCM+PM Velika Plaza Project receives special jury commendation in the WTM London/UK



In the press conference which was held in the World Travel Market in London the winners of the competition for the best planning solution "Velika Plaza a sustainable tourist complex on the coast” was announced. The Van den Oever Zaaijer & Partners from Nederlands won the First prize. Second place went to the company PRP architects from Great Britain, and the third was awarded to Crawford Architects from the United States, while the special reward was assigned to Archipelagos / Aedas Team from the United States and SSSCCM + PM from Italy.

The winner of the best planning solution was awarded by a € 50,000 prize, the other two runners up by € 20,000 and the two special commendation winners received € 10,000.

Members of the Judging panel were:

- Mayor of the Municipality of Ulcinj Gzim Hajdinaga;

WTM is held every year and represents a unique opportunity in the global tourist industry for meetings, networking and negotiation, which this year will attend the record of 48 thousand professionals in the field of tourism.

SSSCCM+PM Velika Plaza Project selected among the 5 winning projects in Velika Plaza International Master Planning Competition, Montenegro

Jury Selects Best Solutions for the Tourist Complex in Ulcinj: Jury for the selection of the best planning solution for parts of the Master plan for the project „Velika plaza” has picked five best works. Top-five position has been earned by the works submitted by Dutch company “Van den Oever Zaaijer & Partners”, US companies “Crawford Architects” and “Archipelago/Aedas Team”, British “PRP Architects” and Italy's “SSSCCM + PM.” Winner would be proclaimed in mid-November, at the World Tourist Market in London.

Podgorica – Jury for the selection of the best planning solution for parts of the Master plan for the project „Velika plaza” has picked five best works. Winner would be proclaimed in mid-November.
Top-five position has been earned by the works submitted by the Dutch company “Van den Oever Zaaijer & Partners”, US companies “Crawford Architects” and “Archipelago/Aedas Team”, British “PRP Architects” and Italy's “SSSCCM + PM.”

Selected companies will have an opportunity to present their works to the members of the Jury on the occasion of the World Tourist Market in London. Awards will also be presented at this event.
Out of five consultancy firms, two will get special awards, two will win third and second place. There will be only one winner.
Winning company will receive Euro 50,000, while the winner of the second and third place would receive Euro 20,000 each. Winners of special awards will receive Euro 10,000 each.

“Parallel to this competition, government is also implementing the procedure for the international tender for the tourist valorization of Velika Plaza. Winner of the competition for the Master plan for Velika plaza will be asked to present their proposals to the partners, which will be granted advantage by the government and in accordance with the results of the international tender”, Ministry of the Economic Development has explained.

Ministry claims that five selected planning-solutions for Velika plaza fully satisfy high standards of the Jury in terms of planning and architecture.
“Solution have been selected in the manner which, to the largest extent possible, stands in line with the vision of the government of Montenegro, which includes innovations in terms of construction, tourism and energy efficiency, all with the aim to preserve the environment and ensure sustainable development”, statement reads.

This government Ministry also announces that the project of Velika plaza would be presented at London’s fair, as well as the expectations and plans in terms of investments at this locality.
“At the same time, this would be an opportunity for each of the five finalists to hold a 45-minute presentation of their plans before the Jury. Following these presentations, Jury would proclaim the winner on 11 November. Finalists will also get the opportunity to present their projects at Real-Estate Fair in Cannes”, Ministry sources have added.
Competition for the best planning solution for Velika plaza was made public on 13 May. Works have been submitted by 20 prominent architectural and planning companies from the US; Italy, Holland, Great Britain, Portugal, Spain, Australia, Russia and Norway.
